In the most simple water-treatment system, the effluent is channeled to a settling pond and, by the process of sedimentation; the water is clarified and filtered for reuse as plant water.

Performance of Water-Removal Systems

The relative performance of the various water-removal systems can be assessed and compared. These three water-removal methodologies can be used individually, but the best approach may be to use a combination of the different possibilities.

Hydrodynamic instability occurs when moving air forms the water film into a wave, from which droplets then leave the surface. Disjoining occurs when the water film is exposed to high velocity air so the water is "peeled" from the belt surface.

Forced-Air Drying for Conveyor Belts

The third technique for drying the conveyor belt is using high-velocity air to separate the water film from the belt. Two mechanisms can be dominant: hydrodynamic instability and disjoining.
